COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT: As of May 12th

Let us begin by saying thank you to all our Friends and Clients for hanging in there with us during these crazy times! We appreciate your patronage and wonderful attitudes. We wanted to share a couple of updates with you all!

First, we are allowed to do routine appointments and surgeries again! Our lobbies are still closed, but we are hoping to open them up soon!

Second, Dr. Tyler Ratzlaff has announced his retirement as a full-time veterinarian from Alpine Veterinary Hospital. As many of you know, Dr. Ratzlaff, and his wife, longtime office manager, Bonnie, decided to sell the practice last year. Dr. Ratzlaff felt that now was the time to officially say goodbye and dedicate his hard-earned time to his family. We are sad to say goodbye to Dr. Ratzlaff yet we understand there is no one more deserving of a relaxing retirement.

Dr.Tyler moved to the SLV at a young age, attended Adams State University and earned a degree in chemistry before being accepted to Colorado State University for veterinary school. After graduating, he and Bonnie moved back home and soon purchased Alpine Veterinary Hospital. Together over the next 30 years, they grew the one man clinic into a 2-location, 5-doctor practice that now serves the entire six county San Luis Valley. They did all of this while raising two children- son Matt, who is a businessman himself, and daughter Casey, who is an engineer. After mentoring and aiding in numerous careers along the way, they sold the practice to two associates, both of whom were long time mentees of Dr. Ratzlaff.

Dr.Tyler is very much looking forward to dedicating most of his hard‐earned time to riding and training his beloved horses, competing and participating in cavalry events across the country, and spending time with his family, including a granddaughter!

We here at Alpine, plan to continue benefiting from Dr. Ratzlaff's incredible dentistry passion and acumen! We hope to refer many of our more complicated equine equilibration and extraction cases to him for many years to come.

We are planning on having an open house celebration honoring Dr. Ratzlaff and his retirement at the end of May (or just as soon as we are allowed) and would love to extend the invitation to the thousands of clients and patients that Dr. Ratzlaff has whole-heartedly served these last 30 years! Please look for further updates!

Again, thank you all for being so wonderful through these many transitions, and for helping make the practice Dr. Ratzlaff dedicated his life to as amazing as it is today. We hope to honor his legacy by continuing to provide this valley with the highest quality of client services and veterinary care, and you are what will make that happen!

Warm regards,

Dr. Henderson, Dr. Enderle, and all of the staff at Alpine Veterinary Hospital
